FAQs
What should I expect my tubers from your farm to look like?
Tubers are roots that go into the ground. They can be big, small, ugly and have wrinkles just like Brainy and The Beard. As long as they have an eye, neck, and body, it will grow into a beautiful plant. We cut the ends off all of our tubers to ensure there is no rot and assist with fitting into shipping boxes, which does not impact the tuber. All tubers will be at least the size of a AA battery and have a visible eye or sprout. The dahlias you see in the photos were all mostly grown from ugly, weird and wonky looking tubers. If you are not okay with receiving ugly tubers, please do not purchase from us.
How do you prevent the spread of dahlia viruses?
We value the health of our dahlias and diligently sanitize our snips in bleach between each plant when harvesting and dividing tubers. Plants showing visible signs of illness are aggressively culled and disposed in the garbage. While we do our best to remove unhealthy plants, virus is not 100% avoidable. By purchasing from our farm, you accept that risk and understand we are unable to refund for virus or disease.
Where do you ship?
We ship throughout the continental U.S. at this time. Tubers will be individually packed in vermiculate or peat moss.
Do you offer combined shipping?
Yes, we will automatically combine shipping when you place multiple orders, so long as the shipping address and email address are the same in each order. No code necessary, it will be automatically reflected on subsequent orders when you check out. Unfortunately, we are unable to retroactively combine orders if you choose to use a different shipping/email address for multiple orders. The cutoff date for combined shipping is April 12 for Spring 2026 orders.
How much is shipping?
We offer a flat rate of $17.00 per customer via USPS, regardless of the number of orders you place, so long as you use the same shipping and email address on each order (see combined shipping info above).
Do you offer local pick up?
Yes, you may select Local Pick Up at checkout to pick up your order at the Petal Porch. Orders will be available for pick up beginning on April 10, 2026 through April 17, 2026. The Petal Porch hours are 9:00-6:00 Monday-Saturday (excludes Sunday). Orders not picked up by 6:00 pm April 17, 2026 will be considered abandoned and returned to stock. Sorry, no refund will be given for abandoned local pick up orders.
What about shipping delays or lost packages?
Once items leave our farm, we no longer have control over shipping times or any issues that may occur in transit, including lost packages. If your package is lost, please contact USPS directly for assistance.
Do you offer substitutions?
No, in the event something unexpected occurs with storage from when you place your order and shipping, we will not provide a substitution. You will be provided a refund for that item.
What is your policy on refunds/cancellations?
Once an order is placed, we are unable to cancel or modify it. Please inspect your tubers immediately upon receipt and contact us with issues within 3 days from date of delivery. After 3 days, all sales are final.
What is your customer conduct policy?
We are committed to providing transparency, kindness and respect and request the same of our customers. Please handle any customer service issues privately and politely by notifying us through our Contact page. We reserve the right to refuse service in instances of harassment, public criticism, or disrespectful behavior. If our policies or approach do not align with your expectations, we respectfully suggest seeking an alternative grower better suited to your needs.
